Due to recent changes in Jira and Confluence, we've made the tough decision to discontinue the OpenID Connect (OIDC)/OAuth app and no longer provide new versions for the newest Jira/Confluence releases as of January 31, 2024.
This is due to some necessary components no longer shipping with Jira/Confluence, which would require some extensive rewrites of the OIDC App.

Installation-, Upgrade- and Downgrade Guide
Before you begin
You must have the system administrators global permissions before you can carry out the instructions on this page
Tip: In Jira, use Keyboard Shortcuts to access menu items:
type the g key on the keyboard twice quickly, a window will pop out and you can search for any configuration item
Installing the API Token Authentication app
- Log in as a user with the system administrators permission
- Click at the cog icon at top right of the screen in Jira or Confluence to access the Manage app or Manage add-ons section
- Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page and enter resolution API Token into the Search the marketplace field.
The appropriate version appears in the search results. - Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for API Token Authentication.
You're prompted to log into My.Atlassian.
The app begins to download. - Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
- Click Apply license. (If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Jira or Confluence instance.)
Updating API Token Authentication
If a new version is available, the UPM will indicate that by showing an Update button. Use it to upgrade to the most recent version.
Disabling API Token Authentication
- Log in as a user with the system administrators permission
- Click at the cog icon at top right of the screen in Jira or Confluence to access the Manage app or Manage add-ons section
and then on the Manage apps or add-ons link - Expand API Token Authentication in the User-installed Add-ons.
- Click the Disable button. For more information: Disabling and Enabling add-ons.
Uninstall API Token Authentication
- Log in as a user with the system administrators permission
- Click at the cog icon at top right of the screen in Jira or Confluence to access, then choose add-ons, select Manage add-ons (left tabs)
- Expand API Token Authentication in the User-installed Add-ons.
- Click the Uninstall button.
Downgrading API Token Authentication
Downgrading the app from version 1.2.0 to version 1.1.1 is possible, but 1.1.1 needs to be uninstalled first.
The existing configuration and tokens won't be deleted, so that you may still use the tokens created with 1.2.0.
