Permissions Model
HubSpot for Jira separates what users can see from what they can change. Both are configured by a Jira administrator in the app configuration, and both apply to the integration only. They do not alter Jira or HubSpot permissions themselves.
The two permission sets

Specify Spaces is shared. The space scope set under View Permissions also applies to write actions. Write Permissions has no separate space picker, so a space that is out of scope for viewing is also out of scope for creating and updating.
The app does not update existing HubSpot records. It reads them, and it can create new ones, either manually or through an automation rule. Changes made in Jira are never written onto a HubSpot record that already exists.
Writing into Jira works differently: Jira work items can be both created and updated from HubSpot.
How access is decided
For a user to see HubSpot data on a work item, all of the following must be true:
The user belongs to a group selected under Specify Groups in View Permissions.
The work item is in a space that is in scope, or no space restriction is set.
The field or property they are looking at has been selected as visible.
To create a HubSpot record, or to create or update a Jira work item from HubSpot, the user must additionally belong to a group selected under Specify Groups in Write Permissions, and the field must be marked editable.
A user without write access can still view the panel. The create and update controls are hidden rather than shown and rejected.
Field selection
Fields are chosen per Jira space and work type, and per HubSpot object type. The order you arrange them in determines the order they appear in the HubSpot card and in the creation form. Fields marked as mandatory cannot be deselected, and at least one field must remain selected for each object type.
Internal comments
Jira Service Management internal comments can be hidden from HubSpot entirely, or for selected spaces only. If no spaces are selected, the setting applies to all JSM spaces.
