Implications of Zoom Recording Attachments
Security implications
As opposed to other options in the marketplace, Jira Plugin For Zoom Meetings and Recordings allows connecting a Zoom meeting to a Jira issue. Cloud recordings of a meeting are automatically sent to the Jira issue, even when they are password protected.
They can also be imported directly from a Zoom account.
Permissions implications
However, this process implies that the permissions for the recording change:
Before the recording is embedded, it can only be watched by users with a correct link and password
After the recording is embedded, the video can be seen by any Jira user with permission to view the issue where the recording has been embedded.
If the embedded content is confidential or contains any type of sensitive information, you should consider restricting access to the Jira issue.
File size upload implications
Zoom recordings may exceed the default upload file size of 100 Mb for Jira Cloud. If this becomes a problem, consider raising the limit. If you need an initial estimate of a reasonable upper limit, please note our internal tests have found that recordings as long as 4h can have a size of around 800 Mb.
While Zoom recordings are optimized in size, they should be attached to Jira issues with caution. Attaching a high volume of recordings can take a toll on the performance of your Jira Cloud instance.
