7.1.0

February 26, 2025

Below are the latest features and improvements introduced in NASA – Not Another Standup App. Each item highlights what’s new, why it matters, and any relevant steps to begin using it.

Personal Filters for Jira & Confluence

What’s New?

  • Users can now create custom filters that pull data from both Jira (via JQL) and Confluence (e.g., watched or starred pages).
  • Personal filters remain private to the user who created them, enabling more fine-grained control over My Update.

Why It Matters

  • Saves time by focusing each participant on exactly the issues or docs that matter to them.
  • Reduces clutter in shared, team-level filters—everyone can define their own view.

How to Use

  1. Go to Settings → Filters → Add Filter, and choose Jira or Confluence as the data source.
  2. Set up filter parameters (status, priority, JQL, watched pages, etc.).
  3. Mark the filter “Active” so it appears in My Update under your Personal View.

Confluence Export (Team Journal)

What’s New?

  • Option to export the Team Journal directly into your Confluence space, creating a brand-new page under a chosen parent page or folder.
  • Export triggers either automatically at meeting end (if you enable it) or via a manual “Export” button in each Team Journal.

Why It Matters

  • No more copy-paste to Confluence—one-click publishing for your meeting’s final notes.
  • Better traceability since your meeting outcomes are documented in the same platform that stores your requirements or design docs.

How to Use

  1. Ensure Confluence Connection is active (see Settings → Data Sources).
  2. Go to Team Journal after the meeting and choose Export to Confluence.
  3. Pick your target Confluence space and parent page, and set the page title.

Team Meeting: Drag and Drop Items Across Topics

What’s New?

  • In Team Meetings, Scrum Masters or Coverers can now drag items from one agenda topic to another in real-time.
  • Reorder or move tasks for better structure during the live meeting.

Why It Matters

  • Agile discussions often shift focus mid-meeting. Drag & drop ensures your agenda adapts to emerging priorities.
  • Great for brainstorming or planning sessions where items need re-grouping on the fly.

How to Use

  1. Start your Team Meeting.
  2. Drag an item’s “handle” (or use the contextual menu) to move it to a new topic.
  3. Changes appear instantly for all meeting attendees.

Revised User Permission Management

What’s New?

  • Administrators can now decide which Jira users or groups have access to NASA directly within Jira’s group-management settings.
  • This high-level permission does not affect the roles of Scrum Master, Coverer, or Participant in each stream—rather, it determines who can see and install NASA at all.

Why It Matters

  • Large organizations may wish to roll out NASA to specific departments or pilot teams first.
  • Ensures only the appropriate set of users are licensed and able to create or join streams.

How to Use

  1. Go to your Jira Administration → User Management.
  2. Assign or remove users from the Jira group(s) that control NASA visibility.
  3. In NASA’s Settings or Manage Apps, verify your group-based policy is correct.

Create Comments on a Confluence Page

What’s New?

  • When referencing a Confluence page in NASA (either in My Update or Live Meeting), you can add comments that sync to Confluence itself.
  • Optionally, keep the comment local to NASA only if it’s not relevant for the broader Confluence audience.

Why It Matters

  • Minimizes context switching—no need to open Confluence in a separate tab just to add feedback.
  • Retains a single source of truth for each document, whether you’re in NASA or Confluence.

How to Use

  1. Add a Confluence page to My Update or the live meeting.
  2. Choose “Add Comment” and select whether to mirror it to Confluence.
  3. Save to see it appear in the page’s comment thread if you opted to push it live.

Video Meeting Link in Meeting Lobby

What’s New?

  • You can add a direct video meeting link (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.) to the NASA Meeting Lobby screen.
  • Participants see it immediately upon joining, avoiding confusion about where the call is hosted.

Why It Matters

  • Eliminates extra steps of sending links via email or chat.
  • Ensures remote or hybrid teams can jump into the audio/video meeting from a single NASA interface.

How to Use

  1. Under Settings → Notifications or in your stream’s general settings, paste in your preferred video link.
  2. In the Meeting Lobby, a button or hyperlink guides participants directly to the call.

Performance Optimization

What’s New?

  • Behind-the-scenes improvements to how NASA loads filters, My Update content, and Team Meeting items.
  • Noticeably faster response times when switching between Personal and Scrum Master filters.

Why It Matters

  • High-volume Jira boards and active Confluence spaces load more efficiently.
  • Better real-time user experience in the live meeting environment.

How to Benefit

  • No extra configuration required—just update NASA to the latest version.
  • For best results, refine broad filters so only essential items appear.
