Important Update Effective February 1, 2024!
Due to recent changes in Jira and Confluence, we've made the tough decision to discontinue the OpenID Connect (OIDC)/OAuth app and no longer provide new versions for the newest Jira/Confluence releases as of January 31, 2024.
This is due to some necessary components no longer shipping with Jira/Confluence, which would require some extensive rewrites of the OIDC App.

Filters
Filter Configuration
NASA – Not Another Standup App provides a Filters section in Settings that allows you to create custom filter lists for both Jira issues and Confluence pages. These filters can then appear in My Update (Preparation Mode), helping you or your teammates quickly find relevant items to discuss in Standups or Team Meetings. Below are steps and screenshots illustrating how to add or configure these filters.
Adding Filter
Adding a Confluence Filter
Navigate to Settings → Filters
In the left sidebar, select Settings, then click on the Filters tab.
Click “Add Filter”
A modal window appears, allowing you to define a new filter.
Select Data Source: “Confluence”
If Confluence is connected (see Confluence Connection article), you can choose Confluence as your filter type.
Name Your Filter
Example: “My Confluence Pages” or “Watched Pages Last 30 Days.”
Filter Content By
Watched: Returns pages you are currently watching in Confluence.
Worked On: Pages you have recently edited.
Starred: If you have starred pages, they appear here.
Only show pages updated within the last 30 days: Further restrict results to avoid stale content.
Number of Pages to display per page in My Update
e.g., 5, 10, or more. Helps control how many Confluence items show at once.
Confirm and Activate
Click Confirm to save.
Ensure the Active checkbox is selected to make this filter available to users.
Why Use Confluence Filters?
Seamless Access: Quickly pull relevant documentation or specs into your Standup or Team Meeting discussion.
Personalized: Everyone can create or share their own filter focusing on the docs they watch or star.
Timely Updates: The “Only show pages updated in the last 30 days” helps you keep the conversation fresh.
Adding a Jira Filter
In the same “Filters” tab, click “Add Filter”
This time, choose Data Source: “Jira.”
Name Your Filter
e.g., “Bugs in Current Sprint” or “High-Priority Tasks.”
Filter Content By
Priority: e.g., show only High or Critical.
Issue Type: e.g., show only Bugs, Tasks, Stories.
Status: e.g., show only Open or In Progress items.
By Jira Issue Filter: For maximum flexibility.
Here, you can provide a JQL (Jira Query Language) query such as:
project = ABC AND assignee = currentUser() AND status not in (Done, Closed)
This ensures you see precisely the issues relevant to you or your team.
Jira Filter need to be setupped in Jira Filters and need be shared with the Organisation.
Select Issues to Display per Page
Decide how many Jira issues appear at once in My Update.
If you have hundreds of matching issues, consider smaller chunks (like 5 or 10) for performance.
Confirm
Click Confirm to create the filter.
Make sure it’s Active if you want users to see it immediately.
Why Use Jira Filters?
Focus on Relevant Issues: Avoid overwhelming meeting prep with everything in the project.
Save Time: No need to manually search—simply drag the right tickets into My Update.
Flexible JQL: Let you define queries like “All tickets assigned to me that are in progress.”
How Filters Appear in My Update
After you create or edit a filter:
Go to My Update in any Meeting Stream.
On the right side, you’ll see Scrum Master View (global filter) or Personal View (your own filters).
Select the filter name you created (e.g., “My Confluence Pages” or “Bugs in Current Sprint”).
Drag/click the items you want into your meeting update—whether it’s a Standup question or a Team Meeting agenda topic.
Tips & Best Practices
Use Clear Names: If multiple users create filters, naming them descriptively (e.g., “Critical Bugs - Team Alpha”) helps everyone stay organized.
Combine JQL & Confluence: Some participants may prefer to see relevant Jira tickets, while others might need design docs from Confluence. Both can coexist side by side.
Regularly Prune Filters: If a filter becomes obsolete, simply delete it or mark it inactive.
Troubleshooting
Filter Not Showing Up?
Ensure it’s Active in the Filters list.
Check that you have the correct data source selected (Jira vs. Confluence).
Too Many/Too Few Results?
Refine your filter criteria. If using JQL, make sure your query is correct.
Filter Doesn’t Load?
Verify your Jira or Confluence connection is valid.
Check if any authentication tokens have expired.
With custom filters in NASA, you have total control over which Jira issues or Confluence pages appear in your preparation workflow. This flexibility keeps your Standups and Team Meetings focused on the most pertinent tasks and documentation.
